2015 GMC Terrain vs 2015 Ford Edge
While the GMC Terrain will be receiving a few upgrades in the upcoming model year, especially where the front and rear fascias are concerned, we thought it’d be a good idea to get one more comparison of last year’s model out before the new Terrain models begin arriving. And we thought what better than to pit it against one of its biggest rivals, so we took a closer look at the 2015 GMC Terrain vs 2015 Ford Edge. Both midsize crossovers are relatively young and new to the market, but the Ford Edge was around a couple of years earlier than the Terrain.
Advantages of the 2015 GMC Terrain
For that reason, we thought it would be wise to show the differences between the two and exactly why the Terrain makes a much more viable option than its Ford counterpart. Just take a look at the table above and you can see immediately where the two different models have their advantages. Yes, the Ford Edge has a sizable advantage in horsepower, by 63 hp to be exact. But what the Terrain lacks in power it makes up in fuel efficiency, and even more so in cargo capacity.
Starting with city fuel efficiency, the terrain has just over a 1-litre advantage per 100 kilometres. It achieves better economy on the highway as well, but only by 0.4 l/100km. Either way, you’ll be saving quite a bit of money annually at the gas pump by getting behind the wheel of a Terrain. As for cargo capacity, when you drop all of the back seats in both vehicles, it opens up much more space. The Terrain just happens to have more, 24.7 cu. ft. more to be precise.
