2015 Honda Odyssey vs 2015 Mazda5
As youve probably already heard us say numerous times, while the minivan market might not be as popular as it once was thanks to the popularity of crossover utility vehicles, there are still some pretty great vehicles out there in the segment. In particular, the safest one on the road (as proven by the IIHS and NHTSA in the United States), the 2015 Honda Odyssey. We decided to pit it against yet another one of its remaining competitors, so we took a closer look at the 2015 Honda Odyssey vs 2015 Mazda5.
One of the biggest, perhaps surprising advantages that the Honda Odyssey has overs its Mazda competitor is a sheer amount of power. Obviously the Odyssey is no sports car, but in order to get that many people plus all of their stuff moving, its a lot better to be packing a powerful punch in order to make the drive quick, efficient and enjoyable for everybody.
Space Advantages of the Honda Odyssey
Obviously the most important thing in a vehicle such as the Honda Odyssey or Mazda5 is the space, be it for people or cargo. As evidenced by the table above, the Odyssey trumps the Mazda5 in every conceivable category surrounding space. In seats alone, the Odyssey can fit an entire extra person. And in order to fit those seven people comfortably, the 2015 Honda Odyssey also has nearly 75 extra cubic feet of space for the passengers to move around in. Were not even sure how the Mazda5 can be considered a minivan.
The last space category to look at then would be cargo capacity, in which the 2015 Honda Odyssey can hold a maximum of nearly 150 cubic feet, while the Mazda5 can only hold a little over 30 cu. ft. So the moral of the story is, if youre looking for a minivan that can comfortably fit your whole family, and/or a fairly large amount of stuff, then youre still going to want to look no further than the 2015 Honda Odyssey.
