2015 Toyota Yaris vs 2015 Hyundai Accent
Much like every automotive manufacturer has a flagship vehicle, every line has an entry-level automobile as well. Where the flagship is the top-of-the-line in terms of features and size, the entry-level is the smallest and in many ways simplest in terms of features as well. Thats not to say it isnt still packed full of great features, its just not teetering on the border of luxury like many flagships are. For Toyota, the entry level vehicle is the 2-door subcompact Toyota Yaris. We wanted to see how it stacked up to a different entry-level subcompact vehicle, so we compared the 2015 Toyota Yaris vs 2015 Hyundai Accent to figure out the advantages and differences.
Advantages of the Toyota Yaris
For starters, the fuel efficiency is a bit of a battle between the two subcompact vehicles. If you spend most of your time driving through the city streets of Edmonton, then the Toyota Yaris would be the wiser choice as it uses a little more than 1 litre less per 100 kilometres. On the highway, however, the Hyundai Accent takes the cake, but only by 0.3 l/100km. Thats a much less noticeable difference, and the advantage of the city fuel efficiency certainly outweighs the slight deficit in highway.
Unfortunately the Hyundai also has a slightly bigger passenger volume, but considering its a 4-door sedan while the Yaris is just a 2-door coupe you would think the difference between the two would be greater. If size on the interior doesnt make much matter to you, then the fuel efficiency advantage combine with one other slight advantage certainly makes it worth it.
That other advantage is the turning radius, of which is 0.4m tighter for the Yaris. Why is this such an advantage? Because one of the biggest advantages of choosing a subcompact vehicle over something bigger is its ability to maneuver through tight spaces and get into those tiny parking spots. With a sharper turning radius, youre going to be able to do that even easier in the Yaris.
