2016 Buick Enclave vs 2016 Ford Explorer
For many years Buick was looked at in a specific way. They weren’t necessarily the most popular vehicles on the road, but the brand worked hard to turn that stigma around by introducing a brand new crop of vehicles. One of the most popular vehicles since its inception alongside Buick’s image change has to be the Buick Enclave. With the newest Enclave model arriving at Don Wheaton, we wanted to see how exactly it would measure up against one of the most popular utility vehicles in its segment, so we took a closer look at the 2016 Buick Enclave vs 2016 Ford Explorer.
Advantages of the 2016 Buick Enclave
If you take one look at the table above, you can see pretty clearly how neck and neck the two crossover vehicles are. From the get go, the estimation of their combined fuel efficiencies are both exactly 11.8 l/100km, giving neither an advantage over the other in terms of economy. Even power is difficult to dispute. The 2016 Ford Explorer may have 2 extra horsepower, but the Buick Enclave has an extra 15 foot-pounds of torque. It isn’t until cargo capacity that we start to see who take a true advantage, and it just happens to be the Enclave that gets the nod.
In the cargo area at the back of the Enclave there is an extra 2.3 cubic feet of space than there is in the back of the Ford Explorer. That might not seem like a huge advantage, but when you drop all of the seats in both vehicles that’s when it really starts to show. The Explorer has 81.7 cu. ft. of max cargo capacity, but when you drop the seats in the Enclave you get 33.5 cu. ft. more space than that.
