2016 Buick Verano vs 2016 Ford Fusion
While midsize often seems to be the segment of choice when it comes to sedans, there are still plenty of compact choices out there to keep the classification interesting. Our favorite is, of course, the Buick Verano, and we wanted to show that sometimes it’s even superior to bigger vehicles out there on the market, by comparing the 2016 Buick Verano vs 2016 Ford Fusion to see where the vehicles differe and have advantages over the other. Obviously, it would be difficult for the Buick compact sedan to have any sort of advantage in terms of space, but it does have some surprises in store for the Fusion.
Advantages of the 2016 Buick Verano
The main advantage that the smaller of the two vehicles has over its bigger counterpart is its power. With 180 horsepower, it has quite a bit of pickup for such a small car. While 5 horsepower might not seem like much of an advantage, when you take into account its smaller curb weight as well you start to see the sizable boost to power. The Verano weighs 131 lbs. less than the Fusion, giving it that much needed advantage in performance.
As we stated, the Verano obviously can’t compete in terms of space, but the fact that the Fusion’s trunk is only 1.7 cubic feet larger is kind of telling. We would have thought the advantage would’ve been greater, which means that for a compact sedan the Verano has a pretty large trunk. Unfortunately, the Verano also take a slight dip in terms of combined fuel efficiency as well. But while you might save a bit of change at the gas station, are a few pennies really worth that dip in power?
