2016 Scion iM vs 2016 Ford Focus
Scion might be one of the youngest brands on the road, and they might not have one of the most expansive lineups on the market, but they know how to make exciting, innovative vehicles. One thing in particular they do very well is small 5-door hatchback vehicles. If this sounds like a vehicle you’re in the market for, then look no further than the upcoming 2016 Scion iM releasing later this year. We wanted to take a look at it in comparison to a similar vehicle with a hatchback option, so we compared the 2016 Scion iM vs 2015 Ford Focus.
Advantages of the 2016 Scion iM
Very similar to our recent comparison that pit the iM against the Volkswagen Golf, both the Ford Focus and Scion iM are 5-door hatchback vehicles with plenty of space for cargo. Unlike the Golf, the Focus has a bigger engine than the iM with 0.2 extra litres, but the Scion hatchback only has 23 less horsepower. So although the Ford vehicle has more power than the iM, the Scion does have a superior transmission system and, though pure conjecture at this moment, will likely have better fuel efficiency.
As for that transmission system, the 2016 Scion iM will house a brand new version of the Toyota Continuously Variable Transmission. The all-new CVT has been sport tuned to enhance the driving experience, making the vehicle even more fun and enjoyable to drive. With the ability to also drive the CVTi-S as a 7-speed manual, it is certainly superior to the Ford’s measly, generic 5-speed manual transmission. We can’t wait for the new hatchback to make its official arrival so we can test it ourselves.
