2016 Scion tC vs 2016 Ford Focus
As an affordable, 2-door sports car, the Scion tC doesn’t actually have many direct competitors. Most 2-door sports cars come at a premium, but being a Scion the tC was designed to attract a younger audience and deliver a taste of that powerful performance that the more expensive models can deliver. We went out looking for a high-profile competitor that people often associate with it, so that we could take a look at the differences between them and see what kind of advantages the tC has over its rivals, and we settled on comparing the 2016 Scion tC vs 2016 Ford Focus.
While not a 2-door, the Ford Focus is often looked at as a small sports car, with many enthusiasts often choosing it and then accessorizing it to turn it into a sportier version of itself. While the tC is already sporty, we thought this would make the perfect comparison, especially once we compile the data and took a look at the differences in specifications.
Advantages of the 2016 Scion tC
Let’s take a look at the table above, where we analyze several different specifications often considered to be the most important in vehicles like these. Namely horsepower, as the two are sporty midsize vehicles enticing buyers with their performance. The engine underpinning the Scion tC offers 19 extra horses to play with, which isn’t a massive advantage but will certainly give the tC the extra boost of power it needs to deliver a more enjoyable driving experience. Add to that the 26 extra foot-pounds of torque, and the boost only increases. Focus owners might be able to make up this lack of power with their mods, but they’ll be pumping a lot of extra dough into the vehicle.
Space is obviously important as well, in any vehicle. While it might not be as big a selling point as it would be in a minivan or crossover, having a sizable trunk and enough space to be comfortable is important even in a sports car. In the 2016 Scion tC, drivers will have 1.5 extra cubic feet of space to play with in the trunk. The Focus does have a bit of extra space in the cabin, but it’s so minute that it doesn’t make up for the lacking trunk space.
