2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid Edmonton AB
While vehicles like the Camry and Corolla might be the most popular and well-known models on the Toyota lineup, the brand’s flagship sedan is not a vehicle to be trifled with. Packed with premium content and stunning design cues, it seems more like a model fit for the manufacturer’s luxury Lexus lineup. But the luxurious standard Avalon isn’t the only model available of course, as in true Toyota fashion it also has a hybrid model. Enter the 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid in Edmonton AB.
The global leader in hybrid vehicles and technology, Toyota has offered over a dozen different hybrid vehicles since it first introduced the Prius, including a whopping seven for the 2016 model year. It should come as no surprise, then, that the Avalon Hybrid is also the only hybrid vehicle available in its segment.
Specs & Features of the 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid
Of course featuring Toyota’s patented Hybrid Synergy Drive, the 2016 Toyota Avalon Hybrid utilizes a 2.5L Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder as its gas engine and a high-torque electric motor as its other half. Hybrid vehicles aren’t known for generation a ton of horsepower, but the Avalon Hybrid can deliver 200 horsepower while varying power between the gas engine and electric motor.
The Avalon Hybrid does have an EV Drive mode, in which the vehicle will utilize only the electric motor for a short distance, but it only works at speeds under roughly 32 km/h. It’s able to do this thanks to a regenerative braking system, capturing kinetic energy from the wheels when braking to store it in the hybrid battery. And thanks to the compact new nickel-metal-hydride battery, the Avalon Hybrid is able to offer a fairly sizable trunk at 14 cu. ft. of space.
