2016 Toyota Highlander vs 2016 Kia Sorento
While the Toyota Highlander was in its second generation, it received a mid-generation update for its fourth year. For this reason, many fans of the midsize crossover were hoping that the third-gen Highlander might undergo some sort of facelift for 2016, as the new generation kicked off in 2013. Alas, a massive change will not be had this year, but we’re still quite excited about the continued success of the vehicle. We wanted to showcase its differences and advantages against one of its segment competitors, so we compared the 2016 Toyota Highlander vs 2016 Kia Sorento.
Advantages of the 2016 Toyota Highlander
Taking a look at the table above you can see that the two crossovers are quite similar. Their engines deliver the same amount of horsepower, though the Highlander does have a slight boost in torque. 6 extra pound-feet of torque isn’t a huge advantage, but it is nice knowing that you’re getting the most you can.
Where the Toyota Highlander has a true advantage is in terms of space, which is without a doubt the most important aspect of a crossover vehicle like the Highlander. With seating for up to 8 passengers, the Highlander offers 158.7 cubic feet of space for you and said passengers to stretch out and get comfortable in. That’s 12.3 extra cu. ft. than the Sorento offers, meaning the Highlander makes a much better passenger vehicle. But if you drop all of those seats flat, option to transport cargo instead of passengers, you still have an extra 10.2 cu. ft. of space to play with in the Highlander’s 83.7 cu. ft.
If you think that the 2016 Toyota Highlander sounds like the perfect crossover utility vehicle for you, then be sure to schedule a test drive and we’ll get you behind the wheel as soon as the vehicle is available at Wheaton Toyota on the Trail.
