Buick Avenir Concept Edmonton AB
One of the most exciting things coming out of the General Motors camp so far this year was the unveiling of a brand new concept vehicle, the Buick Avenir Concept in Edmonton AB. The vehicle was originally unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, having been announced just shortly before the event. They didnt have a press conference, but its presentation at the show did just enough to amp up the excitement surrounding the concept.
Intended to be the flagship sedan of the lineup if it were to receive a production model, the Buick Avenir represents what General Motors sees as the future of the Buick brand. Thats where the cleverness of the name shines through, as Avenir is French for future. A team of GM designers from around the world worked in collaboration to create the Buick Avenir, using certain aspects from current vehicles as well as pulling inspiration from old concept models to create what might be the future design cues found in Buick models.
The Future of Buick
The Buick Avenir Concept takes on a fairly new design on the inside as well, adopting a more personal 2+2 layout than the normal 2+3. It means you cant squeeze anyone in the middle of the back seat, but nobody really likes sitting there anyways. Instead the center console extends all the way to the back, offering cupholders and the like to both front and back seat occupants. But that isnt the only new idea present in the cabin either. There are just as many new design cues and features in the interior as there are on the exterior.
For instance, a new ionic cabin air filtration makes sure that everyone is as comfortable as they should be inside of a car, right down to their breathing. A gigantic 12 color touchscreen sits in the middle of the center console, making it one of the largest display audio screens in the industry, and it comes equipped with the next-generation of Buick IntelliLink infotainment technology. These are just a couple of the great new aspects found within the Avenir concept, be sure to check out our blog for even more information.
