Toyota FT-1 Concept Car
The Toyota Personal Mobility vehicle is looking more and more like its a concept car that’s going to come to fruition, and in that light Toyota is pushing information about another popular concept car that they’ve come up with recently. Although Toyota has come up with a handful of pretty ridiculous concepts, like the Toyota Hi-CT (seriously, look it up), the Toyota FT-1 concept car is an idea we could totally get behind.
The vehicle is purely focused on track sports and has some of the most impressive performance specs we’ve ever seen. It was created by CALTY Design Research, the North American branch of Toyota design. The FT-1 concept captures the emotion and energy that Toyota is looking to implement in all of their future vehicle designs, and was influenced by the iconic brand of sports cars created by Toyota like the Celica and Supra.
Unveiled at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, it is said said to stand for ‘Future Toyota Ultimate One.’ Not a lot of details are known about this monster of a car yet, other than the fact that it will opt for the traditional front engine with a rear wheel drive layout, standard on most sports cars. Another interesting fact that we do know, is that Toyota production has confirmed a price tag of $60,000, which leads us to believe it might be greenlit to become an actual production model. And that idea excites us.
While we don’t know exact specifications or numbers, with the already astronomical numbers on vehicles like the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, which is poised to pump out over 700 horsepower, we can assume a supercar like this will put up pretty impressive numbers. And it’s incredible looks have us excited enough, as the prototype model is truly beautiful.
