What is Honda Eco Assist?
As both the price of fuel and environmental consciousness continue to rise, more and more technological advances in the way our cars run are beginning to surface. Whether it be the continued improvements to fuel cell vehicles, or the annual increase in fuel efficiency, the automobile industry is doing everything in their power to make driving their vehicles safer for the world, and easier on your wallet. Honda has also taken their own steps in this game, and you’re probably heard of it but might not know what it does for you. So, what is Honda Eco Assist?
Honda Eco Assist is a feature that comes standard in most trims of the 2014 Honda Civic, among other Honda model vehicles. Eco Assist is actually an abbreviation for a longer name, the Ecological Drive Assist System. Essentially, it is an information system that attempts to help you get the most fuel efficiency out of your vehicle. Eco Assist watches the way that you drive and then shows you how it affects your fuel efficiency. There is a digital speedometer in your dashboard, and on either side there is a tall blue bar designed to deliver the Eco Assist information. The bars change blue if you’re driving inefficiently, and if those bars are green you’re golden.
Furthermore, there is also an ECON Button which gives your vehicle even more control to make sure you are driving efficiently. Pressing the button changes several operating aspects of the vehicle that lead to better fuel economy. Some examples that you’ll find fairly noticeable include a much smoother throttle response, much quicker shifting in automatic transmissions, and your air conditioning system might become less responsive.
The Eco Assist and ECON button features are quite simple to use, and they make driving a much better experience for everyone. Saving the environment, saving your wallet, what more could you ask for? It will also be available in the new 2015 Honda Civic, so feel free to give us a call and inquire about either new vehicle, the 2015 or 2014 Honda Civic, and be sure to ask what other Honda models include Eco Assist if you’d rather drive something else.
