GMC Sierra Elevation Edition
It’s always exciting when a new trim level is introduced, but even more so when its a trim level that enters a completely new market for the truck. That’s precisely what’s going to happen by the end of the year, as GMC has announced a brand new Sierra 1500 trim level that will be entering the sport pickup truck segment, known as the GMC Sierra Elevation Edition. The trim will adopt styling and features unavailable elsewhere in the sport pickup market, and we can’t wait to see it in action.
Starting with the exterior, GMC has already released a list of enhanced design cues that will make their way onto the Elevation Edition. A body-colored grille surround will lead the truck down the road alongside color-keyed door handles, mirror caps, side moldings and bumpers both in the front and rear of the truck. All of these new cues add a much sportier look to the standard 2015 Sierra 1500 double-cab platform, which is what the Elevation Edition will be built on. They’re also upgrading the lighting, adding premium LED headlamps and fog lamps, and adding standard 20” aluminum alloy wheels.
Moving onto the interior, they’ve added an impressive selection of standard features to the new Elevation Edition as well. Power mirrors, remote keyless entry, 110-volt AC power outlet, and LED cargo box lighting all add more function and luxury to the new sport-class pickup. They’ll also be adding in available 4.2” Intellilink color display audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, and the OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fit hotspot as well.
But perhaps more importantly than sporty styling and features, a sport truck has to have sport performance as well. The Elevation Engine will come with a standard engine available in either two or four wheel drive. Its a 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 that delivers 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque, but still runs at an efficient 9.8 l/100km for a truck. Then you can opt for an even more powerfully sporty engine, the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 pumping out a whopping 355 horsepower.
We simply cannot wait until this option arrives on our lot in Edmonton, and General Motors has announced that it will be available by the end of the year. If any further information on the trim level becomes available you’ll be the first to know, as we’ll get it out on our blog as soon as possible!
