Buick Envision coming to North America
Over in China, Buick has finally plugged the hole in their crossover lineup by slating a brand new mid-size crossover SUV into their lineup to fit right between the Encore and Enclave. But the thing is, the Buick brand has the same gap over here in North America, and we’re curious if they plan on plugging the same gap for us. And recently, we’ve heard exciting rumors that the Buick Envision is coming to North America and we can’t wait to see what the new model could bring.
Usually we take rumors with a grain of salt, and we’re doing the same with this one, but when the executive editor of Edmunds.com, an extremely reliable wealth of knowledge when it comes to the automobile industry, we tend to listen a little bit more closely. He said recently that “Buick hasn’t made any official announcements,” BUT… “we expect this vehicle will join the [North American] lineup in the fall of 2015.”
The Encore, a small crossover that benefits from maneuverability and utility combined, and the three-row Enclave are great sellers in North America and fill the luxury crossover market very well. But Buick doesn’t have anything to compete with the Lexus RX, Acura RDX, Audi Q5 or BMW X3, and the Envision could be the perfect vehicle to slate into the Buick lineup to compete with these popular vehicles.
We know that China is Buick’s largest market and that General Motors does a lot of research and development over there, sometimes designing vehicles with the intent of sending them across the pond as well as keeping them local to their Chinese market. So it doesn’t take a stretch of the imagination to believe that the Envision could be making its way to North America shortly after its debut in China. Keep an eye out on more information about the Buick Envision, and we’ll be sure to update you with more information as it becomes available.
