2015 Honda Fit vs 2014 Mazda 2
With all the talk about Honda’s line of utility vehicles, like the popularity of the 2015 Honda CRV and the upcoming all-new 2016 Honda Pilot and HRV, other cars tend to get lost in the shuffle. Like the all-new 2015 Honda Fit, which was brought back to the market just last year but often gets overlooked. It’s a great compact 5-door hatchback sedan that can fit a lot more in the back than one might expect. We wanted to start talking about it again, by comparing it to another popular subcompact car, so we took a closer look at the 2015 Honda Fit vs 2014 Mazda2.
Advantages of the 2015 Honda Fit
Much like the Honda Fit, the 2014 Mazda2 is often overlooked because it didn’t receive a 2015 model year. Its manufacturers knew it would be completely overhauling the car for 2016 so they took the year off, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a comparable choice in the subcompact car segment. However, it does seem to pale in comparison to the 2015 Honda Fit. In fact, the Fit outshines the Mazda2 in both fuel economies, horsepower and max cargo capacity, showcasing all the more reason it shouldn’t be so overlooked.
Through city streets like the ones here in Edmonton, the Honda Fit utilizes 1.3 l/100km less than the Mazda2, and on the highway 1.2 l/100km less. In terms of performance the Fit has an extra 30 horsepower which translates to a more enjoyable driving experience. But cargo capacity is certainly the biggest advantage, where it really owns up to its name by nearly doubling the max capacity with nearly 25 extra cubic feet of space.
