2016 Buick Regal vs 2016 Mazda6
When it comes to the Buick lineup, almost everything is under a decade old. The LaCrosse was introduced in 2005, and every other vehicle has been introduced since then. The Regal, however, was reintroduced in 2011. We say reintroduced, because it’s actually one of the oldest vehicles the brand offers, having been originally introduced in 1973 and running through 2004. It was discontinued along with many other vehicles as Buick attempted to shift its image, but the brand completely overhauled it and brought it back better than ever. We wanted to take a look at the newest version of this luxury-sports car in comparison to another midsize sedan, by pitting the 2016 Buick Regal vs 2016 Mazda6.
Advantages of the 2016 Buick Regal
For this comparison we took a look at the top trim levels of each sedan, and the result shows that each vehicle has its advantages. While the Regal can’t quite keep up in terms of space, it would leave the Mazda6 in the dust if they were to race. Starting from the top of the table above, the Regal outperforms the Mazda6 in both horsepower and torque. With 75 extra horsepower, and a whopping 110 extra pound-feet of torque, the Regal definitely trumps its rival in terms of power ratings.
Unfortunately, as we stated, the Mazda6 does have more space than the Regal, both for cargo and passengers. But its advantages in space are hardly as impressive as the Regal’s superior power. With only 0.6 cubic feet of extra cargo space and 3.4 cu. ft. of extra passenger volume, it doesn’t surpass the Regal nearly as much as the Regal does in power. So essentially what it comes down to is if you’d rather have a significant advantage in power, or a slight advantage in space.
