Buick Avista Concept Edmonton AB
Last year at the North American International Auto Show, the biggest talking point for Buick was the just-introduced Buick Avenir concept. Buick turned heads again this year with another brilliant, similar ploy, having introduced the Buick Avista Concept in Edmonton AB just before the auto show. This brilliant new concept is a 2-door, 2+2-design coupe that displays not just the future of Buick design, but what a true luxury-sports car might look like on the Buick lineup. We’ve got to admit, it would look pretty good.
Specs & Features of the Buick Avista Concept
Without a doubt the most exciting specs & features in regards to the new Buick Avista concept are its powertrain. Buick has a bit of history with performance, but they’ve certainly never been associated with high-powered, high-performance sports cars. The Avista would certainly change that, thanks in a major way to its 3.0L turbocharged V6 powertrain that would be capable of deliver 400 horsepower, blowing even the classic Buick GNX right out of the water.
We think Duncan Aldred, the Vice President of Global Buick Sales, Service and Marketing, said it best when he explained that “the Avista embodies the dynamic soul of Buick. It is a modern expression of the brand’s heritage of sophisticated performance, communicated with beautiful elegance.” We could not agree more, as the elegant lines of the Avista concept create a stunning look at how all of Buick could soon look, while its sophisticated performance proves that Buick is capable of a lot more than people give it credit for.
While it is probably unlikely, we doubt we will see a production version of the Buick Avista announced in the coming months. It’s certainly possible, but much like the Avenir last year we simply expect to see some of the design cues or features found in the Avista to pop up in next year’s new vehicles. Of course, if we hear anything different, we’ll be sure to inform you on DonWheaton.com.
